Joker

Placeholder of the Pipes collection. The Joker contains all five pieces of the main pipe and can therefore, if turned in the right direction, replace each of the other paintings.

Joker

“I can still taste the sea in my tears”, 100x150cm Mixed Media on canvas by Liesel Beukes

In my research on interconnectedness I came across a poem by Joanna Macy on endangered species:

“Dive me deep, brother whale, in this time we have left. Deep in our mother ocean where I once swam, gilled, and finned. The salt from those early seas still runs in my tears.”

There is a mantra written around the teardrops “you in me, me in you” to place focus on our connection to everything around us.

Enter My Soul

Represents the yogic concept of the body as a multilayered jacket. From the outside inwards we have the physical body, the energy body, the mental body (lower mind), the psychic body (higher mind) and the bliss body. Each layer nourishes the layer beneath it. (From the book – Healing Yoga by Liz Lark and Tim Goullet).

Enter My Soul

I repeated the words “more unique than fingerprints” to build up the face. The wool is a symbol to say the rest is up to you. It’s long not over – you can start where you are and knit further anyway you would like.
